Discipline Hearing Courses

The Basic program is designed to provide professional regulators with a comprehensive orientation to the discipline process. At the conclusion, participants will have an understanding of: Relevant principles of administrative law; Roles of the various participants in the hearings process; Activities that occur prior to a hearing; Procedures associated with the hearings process; Responsibilities of panel members.

The new Advanced Program "Challenging Situations in Discipline Hearings" is a beyond-the-basics learning opportunity for adjudicators. At the conclusion, participants will have an understanding of: How to respond and deal with challenging situations that arise; how to exude confidence in the conduct of the hearing and demonstrate credibility to the parties that the process is fair and unbiased; How to assist the panel to be efficient in conducting a hearing while listening attentively, being flexible to issues and using common sense; how to assist panel members to understand the types of proper clarifying questions.
